He loves taking a look at it and the mechanical noise mentioned via others is more or less rythmic and neither him nor us mind it at all. Be prepared to switch batteries every two months or so (with day through day use). Side now note - I in finding it kind of funny it has 6, now not eight, legs... Fantastic purchase, truly worth the money. We're preserving it for our subsequent kiddo.
